Roughly 47 years ago, we began the 1975-76 school year with youth, vigor, dreams, and aspirations. This site is a celebration of that time.
Blue Ridge was the smallest high school in Greenville County. Located at 2423 East Tyger Bridge Road near Greer, SC at the site of today’s Blue Ridge Middle School, it was the northern-most high school in the state, within shouting distance of the mountains and the fabled “Dark Corner”.
Blue Ridge was a “country school”: 10 miles to Greer, 11 miles to Travelers Rest, 17 miles to Greenville, and 262 miles to Myrtle Beach.
Comprised of grades 8 through 12, the “feeder” elementary schools were Skyland, Mountain View, and Tigerville. There were approximately 600 students with a 1976 graduating class of about 100.
These images were prepared with great fondness. Memories that had been filed away in the gray matter for years bubbled to the surface bearing joys and triumphs, as well as tears and sadness. It’s my hope that this collection brings you happiness.
Peace be with you all…
With Love,
J
